Hi!

So I live in Singapore but I will be starting college in the US this Fall (ahh *is excitonervous*).

Anyway, I'm looking to buy the ADC student membership before I go off. Would I be able to buy the ADC-student membership here, and send Apple Singapore evidence that I'm enrolled at a college (even though it's in the US)?

Oh, and, I don't have a class sched yet so if anyone has any ideas on what I should fax over to them instead, that would be great.

I've already emailed Apple about this, but they are taking their time replying. I'll post any updates on here.

Um...yeah.

Thanks!

I think you have to send the schedule to them so just register for your classes.

YEah they won't let you purchase a system without a schedule or letter from the registrar saying that you are a currently enrolled student. You can still buy the membership before you leave, if you would like, but you won't be able to activate it until you send in the information. Are the ADC pricings different (i.e. better) in Singapore than in the US? If not, why not just wait till you get to the US? Also, I know that in the summer, the US Apple store runs the free iPod promotion, not sure if that happens in Singapore or not, and also not sure if you can couple it with the ADC discount. If you can, you can get your system + free ipod (or 150$ towards an ipod), + free printer (or 100$ towards a printer).

Hi, thanks for the replies.

It'll cost US$100 more if I buy my MBP combination from ADC-Singapore than ADC-America, so I guess I'll wait until college. I have 3 weeks in the US before move in day, so I have time.

Anyway, I can't sign up for classes until I move into my dorm. Do you guys think:

  • my acceptance letter
  • a letter from the school acknowledging enrollment payment

will suffice as evidence? That's what I have at hand.

Thanks, again.

It can't hurt to try.

I plan on faxing in my acceptance letter and student loan award notification, see if that works.

I got a reply from Apple.

They said that along with the documents I mentioned (acceptance letter, letter from school acknowledging payment of enrollment) I would need to fax over a photo ID.

So I guess that means the documents are fine.

Apple didn't say anything about me wanting to join ADC-Singapore even though I am enrolled at a US college. I'll contact them when I have the time.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

Okay, second reply from Apple.

I can use ADC-Singapore student membership even if I'm enrolled at a college in another country. I can only ship things bought from the online store to an address in Singapore.
