Does anyone know of a good app to stop popup adds when surfing the web (for OS X) ?
Does it exist? I use AdsGone on my PC and it's great, it stops them all :D.

Add blocking

block's even Tread's !

I use Norton Internet Security (Privacy Control) on OS X

But when I activate it something funny is happening.
I can still logg in to Macrumors but the Tread's mysteriously disappear.

So its limited useful

OmniWeb does that as well. I can't stand using browsers that don't.

If you use OmniWeb, iCab, Mozilla, or Netscape 6.2 (I think), there should be an option in the preferences to disable popup windows. For other browsers you can turn off JavaScript (although this of course has many undesirable side effects). For an app to block popups, look on VersionTracker.

On a related note, if you're somewhat comfortable with the command line, try junkbuster to block ad images. Junkbuster acts as a proxy that screens out images from sites that you specify, so that your one junkbuster blockfile works with all web browsers that support proxies (in case you use a browser that can't block certain images, or in case you ever switch web browsers).

How would I go about setting up Chimera to block pop up ads. I have looked around, but I can't find a setting to change.

Thanx for any help

netbarrier will let you block ad images too by adding crap onto the request URL....pretty effective, but doesnt stop popups

I used panicware on my PC, but I really find myself comming across a lot of legit popups so its not that effective...at least not for me
