Add buddy to video chat?

To add a buddy to your video chat, must they have only an Aim, Mac, or MobileMe account?

Trying to add my son who has a hotmail/Live account.

Do I have to create an AOL/Aim account for him then?

Yes. You need to be using the same protocol ie. MSN or .Mac/AIM. Skype is pretty good for video chat, too.
