Add contact on Watch

I got a drawing from a friend that has a watch and added him as a contact on the watch but I can only see his phone number. How do I edit his profile on the watch to his name and not just the number? I don't see him in favorits on the phone.
 
Add him as a Contact in your iPhone first. Then in the Apple Watch app on iPhone > My Watch > Friends > Add Friend.
