How in the world do I add or remove the “old” widgets on the left-hand side of iPadOS 14? The little “edit” button has disappeared.

Also, can I add the “new” widgets below the “old” ones? I used to put a Hello Weather widget above my stocks widget, but now it looks like I’m forced to put the stocks widget above everything else??

Any help is appreciated!

On the Home Screen, press and hold until you get the app wiggles. Once you are wiggling, look to the top right corner of the screen. You should see the plus sign. Swipe to the left and then tap that same plus sign. That will give you the ability to edit your old and new widgets etc.

Thank you. It looks like the issue is that you have to be in horizontal mode to do your action above. In landscape this is not possible, at least not on my 12.9 iPad Pro. I’m going to report this inconsistency to Apple.

Still don’t get it. I want to remove the Google News widget but when I enter wiggle mode, the two old widgets below do not have the - symbol to remove them

I've also read from users on a Dutch forum topic that they cannot reorder the third party widgets while they can with the Apple widgets. Have you guys also seen this problem as well?

Ignore my earlier request I see you can reorder when you click on the top of the old widget area, then the + appears in the top right corner but instead you scroll down and then the button 'change' appears again where you can re-order the third party widgets.

Yes and it is really frustrating. And if I choose not to use an Apple widget there is still a gap, like a placeholder, that pushes my older widgets down the screen.

Not sure if you noticed my second response on this matter that I found out that you in fact can reorder third party widgets by pressing that 'gap' and then scroll down to press the good old 'change' button to re-order third party widgets.

As far as the gap is concerned in the top it is at least smaller then what we had in iOS13 and before where the time (insanely big), day and month were indicated which is now gone which is fine with me. It would make more sense though to add again the 'change' button at the bottom and remove the gap in the top below the search bar and the first widget.

The battery widgets are insanely big in comparison to what we had and I also preferred it how it was in iOS13 that it only showed the battery widget when devices were connected to my iPhone while it now permanently shows and indeed what you said with a big gap between that and third party widgets.

It appears to me that you must first scroll up to expose the bottom of the traditional widgets - I.e. expose the area where the Edit button appears in iPad 13 - and only then enter the wiggly edit-home-screen mode. This worked reliably for me; nothing else exposed or materialized the Edit button. Weird. I consider it a bug for sure and reported it in Feedback.

Thank you. Here’s to beta 3! :)

If it's really driving you nuts, simply delete the associated app and the widget will be gone. You can then re-install the app and the widget won't come back.
