Hello,

Im kinda new to this mac networking thing, anyways I have a mac mini and a macbook. I use the mac mini as a htpc using plex and have most of my videos/music on my macbook. How do I get plex to see the files on my macbook? Do i need the IP address of the macbook, if so how do I find that info. Do i need to share my entire hard drive on my macbook first?

please help.

thanks

When you add the new source in Plex, set the path to:

smb://*insert name of the MacBook that shows up on the network*

Without the asterisks of course. It might ask you for a username and password, this is what is used to log into your MacBook. If it connects successfully, you'll just have to browse the folders to reach the music and videos.

hmm i tried this but didnt work but I did notice when I go browse I do see the shared folder from my macbook so finding my videos on my macbook is no problem

but how do I share my Iphoto Library from my macbook? When I add source, it does not connect. I cant share the "Iphoto Library"

Also how about Itunes, I already put Itunes in share mode but how do i connect?

thanks in advance

ive also been having issues with adding things like photo and especially video libraries to plex, how did you do it?
