In Snow Leopard you could add a space between your dock items with a command line in terminal. However we purchased a new iMac that came with Lion installed and its not working when we put in the command line. Any thoughts on how to get it back?

Below is the URL with the instruction. The pictures he has are clearly Lion but I wonder if he did it in Snow Leopard and installed Lion on top of it.

The limited ability to customize the OS found in Leopard and SL isn't really available in Lion. As far as I've been able to tell, it's been locked out in order to make Macs look like the iFeminine Hygiene Product as much as possible.

Add space in Dock

Hello, the is chris from themacmob.com. This tutorial is done in Lion. You should be able to run the terminal command and then killalll Dock. Is it not working at all for you?

This command worked fine for me:

defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add '{"tile-type"="spacer-tile";}'; killall Dock

You might want to think, and check, before you write.....
