Adding a sound file to a .doc file

Basically I have a .doc file and want to make an interactive story. Sort of like the books where you press the correlating button for the appropriate sound. I want be able to insert a button or whatever that when you click on it it plays a corresponding sound. I am using Word 2004 but would be ok with something else that would allow me to do this.

You can do that with Pages. Video clips as well.
