I bought a Apple Watch Series 5 cellular outright from amazon.
I am with EE for my iPhone.

I used the Apple Watch app to add a data plan. Had to enter my EE log in details and purchased the data plan £7 per month.

it says successful. And data plan active. But I don’t see the cellular dots in the explorer watch face.

Do I not need to provide the watch serial number or any ID numbers to EE?

The dots only appear when it is on cellular - ie away from phone and not on Wifi etc.

As a test in the watch settings turn off wifi & bluetooth and it will (hopefully) after a few seconds register. You can also see the cellular status from control centre on the watch

Any idea why the cellular strength dots /symbols are only available on the explorer watch face?

should be on all watch faces- especially if you want assurance that cellular is on and active when you leave your iPhone behind

Apple only added them to that face, as it was the default new face for Series 3. Think there is a complication in watchOS 6 for cellular, isn't there?

Wasn't the Explorer watch face exclusive to the Apple Watch series 3 when a cellular option was unveiled? I haven't tried it but doesn't the mobile data complication provide signal strength?
