All I want to do is add a new picture to my ipad without syncing. I tried dragging and dropping, and I get a message saying Ipad cannot play jpg's. I was able to add it to my files in my , "Downloads HD" app. Now I want to move it to Photos. Is this possible?

You could simply mail the image to your iPad and use "save image" in mail client on iPad to copy it into your camera roll.
GoodReader might also help as you transfer via wifi fromC or Mac to GR ...

Easy. Add to photo stream, (for me just use iPhoto), mail it, use document manager, and so on.

If that's a priority for you then why didn't you research this before purchasing? Buy what suits your needs. Don't just assume.

dont just assume thats his only priority? maybe he has other needs too?
i hate how restrictive iOS too.. yet i still purchase apple products because it suites my other needs better than less restrictive device.

If the source image is displayable in Safari via the web, you can tap on it to add to your photos. If you can email the image to yourself, tap on the attachment and add it to your photos.
