Hi, I'm not sure if this has been asked but my order is still processing (boo)! But I'm just wondering if anyone knows or has tried to edit their order to add AppleCare+ on while it is in the processing mode - without cancelling it?

I was going to add it when it finally arrived but i'm wanting to use the educational discount and some things I have read have said you can't use this when you have the product and try and add it retrospectively.

If not, on the order page, it says AppleCare+ is £249 at the point of purchase, does this remain the same when buying it later on? (sorry if thats a daft question, can't seem to find a solid answer).

Thanks in advance!!

Not sure about education apple care plus, you have 60 days from time you purchase the machine to purchase apple care.

How to buy
  1. Purchase AppleCare+ with your new iPhone. Or buy it within 60 days of your iPhone purchase:
    • On your device (go to Settings > General > About and choose AppleCare+ Coverage Available)
    • Online (requires you to verify your serial number and run a remote diagnostic)
    • At an Apple Store (requires inspection of your iPhone and proof of purchase)

Just wait until you have it in hand, and do as posted above.

When you have your serial number handy, get it then.

As @LFC2020 mentioned, you can purchase it within 60 days, but I also suggest this - since your order is so fresh and hasn't shipped, why not initiate a chat with Apple right now and ask them if you can add it to the order immediately? I think that you might be able to do it pretty easily right now, and then you won't need to worry about doing it later.

Thanks both!

The only reason I asked was to try and dodge paying more if it wasn't possible to use the educational discount afterwards. I'll do this though - thanks!

Ah yes - good point. Thank you!

Once it actually ships (gets a tracking number), the AC+ team will have access to the serial number, and can add AC+ with no hassle. You’ll have to call them.

Thank you!

It was just whether I could use the educational discount - but I suppose i'll have to see.

True, but you lose access to the educational discount you'd get if you placed the order with AC+ in the first place. I know... it happened to me. Once the order is placed, you have to pay full price for AC+, no way around it. If it hasn't shipped and it hasn't been too long since you ordered, i'd cancel the order and reorder with AC+. It may not be much to some, but it's not insignificant.

Is it true you loose the Apple education discount?

Thanks both,

and yes it's true. I spoke to Apple yesterday to try and see if there was any way of the editing it - there wasn't without cancelling the order and re-ordering. I've been waiting that long for the new one that I couldn't be bothered to go through it again :(

I'll just pay the normal price; at least some of the saving I got on the laptop can go towards it eek.

Just a general comment about Apple purchasing and repair systems. They mostly work pretty well. My experience is that things are more likely to go wrong if there is any deviation from the vanilla default process, like adding or changing things later by phoning up.

Wait until you receive it, play with it for a day or two, make sure everything is OK and, then, buy AC+.
