I created a gif image of a flashing "rec" to add to a video project to simulate a record light. How can i add this over a video? Can i do this in imovie or quicktime? I realize programs like final cut can do this but i dont own that software.

You might have to install the trial of adobe after effects as I don't believe either iMovie or quicktime can do it.

AE might be overkill due to the (IMHO) overly complex GUI. Premiere is much easier to handle for such simple things.

Put it on the second track as an overlay and you are good to go.

Thanks for the advice.. I may have to purchase it, i hear it's worth it, Thanks again!

Not really a need to purchase it, as there are 30-day fully functioning trials for AE and Premiere, which should suffice for your need, unless you want to do more later I guess.

**Just a follow up**..
I was able to get the results i needed with photoshop and quicktime.. It turned out better than i could have imagined. If anyone is interested PM me and i'll explain. Thanks for all the responses.
