Got my iphoneX end of Nov, and cracked my screen yesterday and got a green screen. Will I be able to add apple care+?

Thanks

Actually that thread has been updated and you can only add AppleCare+ for 60 days after purchase. To the OP, Apple runs remote diagnostics before approving your AppleCare+. I’m betting the screen being screwed up will trigger a flag for denial

You're correct, I edited my post for clarification. I didn't see the update at the bottom of the article. And Apple does document any repair history with that specific iPhone in their system, which I don't know how that would ultimately play out for AppleCare.

I’ve never purchased AppleCare+ personally so I’m actually curious how they determine if your phone is eligible without actually physically inspecting it.. I’m sure they don’t want people to purchase it after the damage has occurred. It’s like buying insurance for your car after you had an accident

They access the phone remotely and run a hardware check.

I know they filed a patent for detecting cracked screens. It requires sensors placed in the phone. Whether they’ve implemented those features yet is unknown. What I have read is that some have passed and others have not. Regardless, according to the Applecare agreement this is classified as fraud. Morality aside, try it and report back.

I don't think I can get it passed the remote diagnostic. Next option is trying it though my Chase card to see if they will repair or remburse the amount as I am still within the 90 days period.

You gotta pay to play. This is why insurance costs so much. Folks trying to job the system. Sorry about your phone, but you cheaped out initially and this is what happens. I say this as someone with an 8+ and an X. Neither have insurance. If I crack one I'll take the loss and realize my attempt to save a few bucks bit me in the ass.
