No. You cannot upgrade the RAM yourself.
You have to order the RAM when you buy it so that the iMac is manufactured this way.

No, you have to order it with the config you need, 8GB is the base model with 16GB/24GB options.

The answer is -- simply -- NO.
The memory that comes with it is all you will ever have to use.
So... CHOOSE WISELY when you purchase.
My recommendation remains:
DO NOT buy ANY m-series Mac with only 8gb of RAM.
Get 16 (or 18) as your "minimum".
If you choose to ignore this advice, I predict that you will find yourself unhappy sooner rather than later...

Yes, but I intend to keep this M3 till it's no longer supported via Software and Hardware. That's probably 7 or more years of use. So I maxed it Ram and Storage.

If you can afford it, maxing out both is the way to go. If you can only afford one then, I suggest maxing out RAM. You can always add external storage later on.
