Got a new iPhone 13 Pro today with a brand new AppleID so I can finally keep my personal and work stuff separate, and I've run into a brick wall.

First I added my card to Apple Wallet, went down to Tescos, paid with my Wallet app, all good. I then decided to subscribe to iCloud+. Went to Settings > MyName > Payment and Shipping, and manually added my card there (same as the one in Apple Wallet). I then got this dialogue asking me to link my payment and shipping card to Apple Pay even though I thought I had already done so in wallet. Ok, did that. Went to purchase iCloud+ in the iCloud settings tab, and was told that to purchase anything I had to verify my card by keying in my cvv. The problem now though is that my card number under Payment and Settings shows up as my device account number, which I'm assuming is why my cvv gets an error message?

Does anyone know how I can solve this? Thanks!

Deleted and re-added payment method in Payment and Shipping to no avail. Ultimately solved this by deleting my card from Wallet, and then going into Payment and Shipping, adding my card, waiting almost 3 minutes for the spinning icon with 'Adding' to go through before giving up and quitting the Settings app completely. Opened the Payment and Shipping tab in Settings again full of dread, but viola, it's there now.

I suspect that there's some sort of issue with going into Payment and Shipping and clicking that 'Link' button when you have the same card set up in your Wallet as it causes the card number to be listed as your account card number (the one generated by apple for your device), messing things up when you need to key in your cvv.

Overall a very convoluted process and disappointing considering this is a fresh device with a fresh Apple ID.

Reactions: now i see it
Tried to purchase something from the AppStore today and encountered the same issue. I guess I will not link my card from Payment and Shipping to Apple Pay using their link button over there as that seems to be the root of my issues.

Some banks will not support ApplePay. When you enter your card details the phone has to verify everything with the bank. If your bank does not confirm and allow, no joy.

I linked Chase Bank cards, Wells Fargo cards, Venmo Debit, and of course the Apple Credit Card. No issues.

My bank supports Apple Pay and I have been using it since I added my card back in with no issues. Just had a minor glitch there where the phone couldn't recognise my cvv for my iCloud+ purchase as clicking the 'link' button in MyName > Payment and Shipping causes your card to show up not as your visa/mastercard number but as your device account number generated in Apple Wallet.
