I'm sure it's possible and I'm just missing something, but I'd like to add events to my calendar which are recurring every week and wouldn't like to add them manually each time.
 
Create the first event, then double-click on it and edit it. Under "repeat" select "Every Week" (in your case).
 
When you add or edit an event, there's a "repeat" option. Highlight it, and you can choose from any criterion you could think of.

Oops, too late! That's what I get for multi-tasking. :p
