Not sure if this should go here or the accessories section.. Aside from spending another $80 on a 2nd Apple brick and cable I was wondering if there is a reliable way to power the rMB on the go.

I dont really need it, its more insurance in case I run out of juice while at work. I thought I read something saying you can get a USB-C to USB-A cable and pull from another laptop? (That might only apply to phones w/ USB-C, not sure if it'll work to power a computer.

it's possible, but it's very slow. I even try to power it via those 2.1a chargers.. it will slowly lose power if you are using the laptop while plugged in. (but will charge if the computer is turned off.. but slowly)

At home I bought a multiport usb/ac brick and at night I use that to plug in my iPhone, iPad, apple watch and macbook.

I carry my official apple charging brick and adaptor with me to work every day and keep my laptop plugged in using that.

I don't know how long it takes, because I have never charged it from empty with that charger. I have plugged it in when it's somewhat depleted, and seen that it's back to 100% an hour or two later, but that's hardly scientific.
