Hi Guys,
Seeking your advice on what monitor to buy as an iMac 27” (2020 edition) companion these days? I went through hundreds of different threads on this topic and I’m torn. Most of the advices out there are pointing out on 4K monitors (or even below). The only reasonable solution seems to be “refreshed” in 2019 LG UltraFine 5k, but want to be sure that is really the case. Seems logical to me given iMac’s 5k resolution, but perhaps I’m missing some good alternative? I’m looking for a premium monitor, that will be at least as good as the one on my iMac (Apple’s XDR too expensive though). I’m looking for something that will be a good match both resolution & esthetics wise.
Thank you!
Kris

I’m actually now considering from three options:
1. LG UltraFine 5K 27MD5KL-B
2. LG UltraFine 4K Ergo 32UN880-B
3. Benq 4K pd3220u
Any hints which way to go?

If you want the screen quality closest to the iMac, I wouldn't even consider option 2 and 3 due to substantially lower PPI.

Ultrafine 5K is basically your only option as you'll get a screen that is pretty much identical to the iMac since they share the same panel.

Next option could be LG 4k 27UL650/850. Much higher PPI than the 32" displays you're considering.

Thanks guys. I’m considering the UltraFine 5K however I’m a bit worried about the image retention issue that was widely discussed on many forums. But perhaps it not the case already with the refreshed model from 2019?
