ading a second display to my macbook pro

hi, i bought a 20'' lcd display, and i wanted to know how can i have it act as the same desktop?

like, i mean, on the macbok pro's screen, have firefox open, and on the second screen have itunes loaded, or a movie?

Are you getting a Dock and menubar on both screens or just the MBP?

When you go to System Prefs->Displays do you get a window on both screens?

When you go to System Prefs->Displays->Arrangement does it show 2 displays? If so, in the Arrangement window drag the picture of the display that doesn't have the menubar so that it is to the right of the one that has the menubar. Then, open Safari on your MBP and drag the Safari window off the right hand edge of your MBP display, it should then appear on your other display.

i just figured it out, but, when i try to make a video full screen on the second display, it plays full screen on my macbook

Drag the VLC window over to the other screen then double click on it to make it full-screen.

i did that, and it made the video full screen on my mac instead of the second display

Okay, with the video open in VLC go to the Video menu and look try changing the settings under the Video Device option.

You have to make your external the main display for full screen stuff to work on it.

No you don't. I quite happily have VLC running in full screen mode on my secondary display.

Yup. I also full-screen VLC frequently on my secondary display while working on the main one.

it worked, i just had to make it play on screen #2
