i have been using the beta for a long time and adium is just a great app. as soon as they add video/audio etc there will no reason to use ANY other IM client. so many options and its free! you have to love it when they were having a new release on beta everyday for a while. keep up the good, hard work adium...

Adium 0.8 is a great update IMO, fixed the couple of probs i had. Only thing i had to reset up my contact list style (iPhoto "Dashboard" for the contact list with the Tiger colour scheme) and a couple of other small things.

At least it didnt kill any script plug ins or emoticons i had installed, lol

why not just create a new preset and just delete the notifications and there you go...

Better yet, under "Sound set", choose "None". Easy!

PlaceofDis: Having to do that (Delete several events) was what I was complaining about. Other chat clients I've used allow me to just click "Don't play sounds" and viola! blissful silence.

therevolution: My adium install does not have a sound set called none. I have: AIM, Adium, Aquatech, and iChat.

Edit: Ok, you can turn the volume down to zero. But I'll bet it still plays the sound! So I don't have to listen to it, but it uses resources. No big deal these days.

Adium is great - I've been using the 0.8 betas, and on the whole they're much better then 0.7x.

One bug that crept in from beta 9 though, is that I can no-longer receive MSN group chat invitations - I appear in there to the people who invited me, but I don't see anything they're saying, and they think I'm being rude :(

The version history for 0.81 says "improved blocking support". Does that mean that Adium allows you to block certain contacts so that they can't see your online status? I was told that blocking wasn't possible in Adium, can someone with the new version confirm (or not) that it's now possible?

Everything else is dandy, I love my buddy list integrated into the desktop!

How did you do that?

Yeah, I switched to Adium too. 0.80 is just too neat. The actual reason why I switched was that I can set up my buddy list like a dock. Now it uses really little space and looks really nice.
Eventually file transfer for AIM behind a NAT or router will come, until then use iChat if I have to.

Change the transparency in a plist file (Look earlier in the thread), set to borderless, Contact bubbles, etc

I like the update except for two things

1. File transfers still need a lot of work. You can't send whole folders/directories. I have change programs just to send a folder of work to a friend or client.

2. The away message input is horrible IMO. You have to enter your away message into two fields, one for what is shown, and one that is used as a reply for people who IM you. IMO, there should be one field for this.

But overall, I like the update, I like the improved buddylist.

Very useful, since the MSN server seemed to forget who i blocked when i switched to Adium.

I noticed the option in 0.8, but it was greyed out.
