i just instaleld adium and i like it, and i customized it and such, but i want to put it on my external HD which i boot tiger from as well....how would i copy this and all my preferences to the external drive so that once i boot from it, its there, working, and all prefs/ pictures are there.....

You will need to copy the Folder ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0 from your regular profile to whatever profile you have on your external drive. You can still run the Adium app itself from it's home in Applications on your internal drive, or if you really want to you can copy that to /Applications on your external too.
