Adium does not connect to internet

Hey i don't know whats wrong but i am not able to connect to any account using adium. I tried MSN id, gmail account. But it does not seem to connect and i cant see my contacts. It shows my status as Offline only.
Please help. Appreciate it.

If you temporarily turn your Firewall off, does that solve the problem?

System Preferences > Security > Firewall.

No that also does not help. Same is the problem with iChat. Thanks still.

Im sure you have, but its worth a try.

Have you reset your computer and your router?

Whats a PRAM and how do i repair the permissions?
Actually im connected to net over LAN and my college has barred certain websites too. Even MSN does not work. But Gtalk works fine on my friends computer.
Is there any other way?
Can i use winebottler to install GTalk on mac?

Can any friends connect to Adium etc? My guess is that the college has blocked access.

They have Windows and use GTalk.🙁
