Adium with MSN - no likey

Guys..

im fairly new to the mac scene. Which i am loving btw.
I use to use msn alot on windows, but now i am using Adium, as the latest msn for mac is w*nk.

But when i am trying to add new contacts too adium, on the msn side, i keep getting this error (see attachment) i get it for all MSN addresses i try adding..

help??? as this is rather annoying.

PS: i have set up Google Talk with adium as well.

PPS: i know these are ligit address's as i have had them on my msn on windows before.

Have you tried "username"@live.com as well?

MSN contacts use either @hotmail.com or @live.com.

They are not restricted to those two domains.

OP, when you add contacts, make sure that "Contact Type" is set to MSN.

What was the domain used to create your MSN account?

Obviously, different services use different domains. And, some services do interoperate.

The OP appears to be trying to add MSN addresses. At least, that is how the OP describes the issue.

It is possible the OP is using "@hotmail.com" to add a contact from another service and that is the issue.

my hotmail account is hotmail.co.uk

i have the drop down list, set to MSN. Its an odd one.

I have thought about trying to use ichat with MSN but that looks more confusing that its worth

This is a known bug in Adium 1.4.1. The Adium developers are working on a fix for it.
