System Preferences >Keyboard and Mouse > Keyboard tab > uncheck use all F1 and F2 as standard function keys. HTH.

I can't adjust brighness or volume using F.keys!

    Hi

I am no longer able to adjust the brightness or volume or activate the numlock using the F-keys.
I have tried the Sys. prefs. > keyboard and mouse > keyboard > Use all F1, F2, ... and then trying the F-keys using fn, but no effect!

    F10, F11 and F12 e.g. is working fine.

I have a wireless mac keyboard where the F-keys are working. The difference on the two keyboards is that, the wireless is the newest keyboard version.

I am able to adjust the brightness by using the 'display prefs' and volume I can adjust by using the slider for controlling the volume.

I am running mac os x leopard.

Do you have any ideas of how to solve this problem?

    Thanks!

oh gosh thank you so much. I just made a post about this. I was sooooo annoyed by the keymaps seeming different than what is printed on the keys!

I used to be able to adjust the brightness with F5 & F6 but now for some reason it doesn't function? When pressing F5 or F6 a semi transparent brightness control box appears and nothing happens with the actual brightness even though the marker increases and decreases.

I can adjust the brightness from system preferences/displays.
And I don't have the function keys ticked in the option.

Any help with this much appreciated. This is so frustrating, why suddenly it doesn't function?

Oh, and it's a 15" Unibody MacBook Pro.
