Urh, hi
i really need some help with this admin account.
i need to make another admin account but keep the old admin account because i'm using an account that is a admin account.
please help, i cant use some of the programs that i got and some games dont work.

HELP!!!

In system preferences any account can be given admin privileges.

Go to System Preferences > "Accounts," and under the "Password" tab check "Allow this user to administer this computer."

The accounts tab isn't there, and alot of things are missing
Not the accounts tab, but the accounts button. From there, the checkbox I mentioned above should be under the "Password" tab.

What is missing?

i know, i want to make one, or hack into the admin account, or bypass the password because i really need to get one.
i want to know, how to make an admin account, how to delete it, or make an un-admin account into one and how to undo that-without using an admin account

Am I correct to assume you are not the administrator of this machine as it would seem and trying to avoid talking to the real administrator? If so, I really doubt the real administrator would be too happy with you changing their password realistically.

Better to ask them to set up an administrator's account for you if they agree you need one since if you do change that password you will not be able to set it back to the original without knowing what the original was. Kind of tough to explain that to the administrator.

yeah, i'm not an admin, i gotta bypass or make a whole new admin account without the admin actualy knowing. then i need to delete it when i need to.
i need to do all this without the startup disks and without the admin.

Well I think you are out of luck then- I have sure never seen a method (using Terminal or not) to set up an admin account without starting from a logged in admin account.

This is one of the security concepts of OSX, as it would sure not be very secure if an admin could not determine who he/she wants accessing their machine after all.

cant you like put it into safe mode, like windows?
i swear you could because the admin blocked nearly all of my games:D
so if anyone, ANYONE know how....please!!!!

You used to be able to do this from single user mode by modifying the netinfo db. Don't know how different it is in Leopard or Intel machines. That said, if you try to do such things odds are pretty good you will screw it up, then how will you explain that one to the admin?

TBH, it sounds like you're asking for help to circumvent parental or work restrictions. If either of those happens to be the case, sorry, you won't find much help (or sympathy) here.

Reading through this thread I was thinking the same thing...

If the admin doesn't want you too, no matter how unfair you may think it is, I think its tuff luck.

What you're asking for help in is no different than asking us how to make a copy of someone's house key without the master copy. Possible, but illegal.
