Not sure where to post this but, this is the main sub forum I visit and I am using a Mac Air to access the internet. You'll see why that's relevant below.;)

Comcast called and wanted us to upgrade our modem as we've been using the same unit for at least 6+ years. Took old one in and received new one. Hooked it up and began the process. All worked well. I was able to connect my Time Capsule and everything is good.

Then I went to the admin website for my modem which also now included wifi. I changed the user and password. I thought I was very cool because I had named my Time Capsule  and my Xfinity modem/wifi . The problem is that when I changed the Xfifnity modem/wifi to  it also changed the admin/user name to . All was fine, as it accepted the changes, until I tried to sign back in. Apparently the symbols aren't recognized by the system. Before I call Comcast I was hoping for the expert help here at MacRumors. I was hoping there might be a quid and easy way to login. If I need to, I will restart the whole process if that's possible. Like a hard restart of the modem/wifi router. Just don't want to deal w/ Comcast CS right now.

Thanks.

Look on the back of the Xfinity and there should be a recessed pinhole labelled reset. Stick a paperclip in there and hold that button down for 15 seconds and it should reset everything back to factory defaults.

I'm curious why it would let you put in a character that it can't recognize in the first place.

Did it perhaps replace that character with one that it can recognize? But please don't ask me how it would decide what character that would be.

That was going to be my next step. Just thought I'd try and see if I could've avoided that.
