I wonder what excuses Android fans are going to come up with next if they can't say iOS sucks because you can't view Flash? Well the 50 billion ads that make up Flash anyway.

Notifications. They suck on iOS. It's one of the main areas which prevents my iPad from being 'perfect'. Dashboard for iOS would also be welcome.

i never thought id see the day, everyone knew apple wound never cave but i give Kudos to Adobe for doing this. I have never really minded flashes weaknesses but just remember even flash works great on a mac. so this will be amazing!

ps does that mean hulu will work now?

hulu works now... Not sure what's wrong with your version.

Fair enough. Notifications on iOS is simplistic to say the least. Hopefully, iOS 5 cures this issue. But Flash has been the Android rallying call against Apple. Without this, I can't see anyone on the Android side of the fence saying, "Apple sucks cause their notifications aren't as good as Androids." :D

True, although let's see how well this solution actually works in practice before feeling too triumphant :p

The thing with apple is that they do take their time to bring certain features to market, but when they do it's done extremely well (copy and paste is a great example). So I am hopeful they have something special for us with iOS 5. I'll buy an iPhone 5 when it eventually drops if they can FTF notifications.

Also let's lastly not forget that there are just as many apple fanboys trying to rub android owners nose in it over perceived android shortcomings as the opposite apples. Best to just enjoy what you have and not be looking over at the other camp. Just my 2 cents worth, but if people did this, the Internet would be a much better place all-round.

Concur. I'm hoping for the best. :)

Yes, there are. But the only real shortcomings for Android-based phones is the fragmentation and manufacturers screwing up vanilla Android with their UI's and lack of OS updates. Although I don't blame Google for things the manufacturers do to their phones.

I don't think this is as big as it sounds. This is live streaming... for live events. It'll be useful for webcasts and things that are broadcasted to many people at once. You can't just hit play and start at the begining, it's like turning on your TV and viewing something live.

Hopefully this means that next time I take my kids to Disney I can use my phone to make meal reservations online like they suggest.

Let's see:

iPhone- check
Disney web site- check

Go to Disney website on my iPhone - fail

So Jobs who is on the Disney board if he he is still alive dictates my phone cannot use Flash to make a reservation on the Disney site because why? Of all the places common sense is that this should be seamless. He owns Apple he owns a ton of Disney. But no. Emailed him about this and either he or his email minion replied back, "sorry". Yeah sorry helps feed a young child

That was last year when we had season passes, have not been back to Disney when we made the mistake of going on a day devoted to a certain group of people where I'm not allowed to say anything about otherwise I get a violation :D

Frankly I think it`s about time companies stopped jumping through hoops to support Adobes poorly written, battery hungry mess.
Apples stand against Adobe is forcing them to come up with better soloutions, like, maybe making it far less of a resource hog than it currently is.

I can`t tell you how nice it is not having to use Adobe Reader anymore (for example).
And what am I missing through a lack of flash?
Oh, yeah about 52,456,219 annoying adverts and very little else.
Screw Adobe. (Not to be harsh, you understand ;))

You are also missing the constant stream of flash-related security problems (admittedly, mainly on Windows, although a vulnerability exists on the Mac version also):

Flash is a constant security headache-- for those who care.
