A few of the guys in Comdes decided to chip in $80 each to purchase Adobe CS2, I think it was like $367 at the bookstore, tax included. They can all run off the same serial number and so far they haven't had any problems with the programs. I'm just wondering, will they have to register the program to get updates? If they can update without registering, I will be extremely pissed since I paid the full price for the program. Thanks.

Wait, you buy an educational program, break the end use license agreement and you'll be "extremely pissed?"

Whatever.

Most updaters for CS2 are available without registration. A couple are not and you need an Adobe ID to get hold of them, but the Adobe ID isn't tied to any product.

What your friends are doing is illegal. I hope they fall out with each other when it's time to upgrade the software or if someone moves away with the disks.

Yea, I just bought a new car -- then I found out my buddies stole one - and they can drive it without registering, too. Geeze am I pissed that I was such a sucker to pay full price.

People are so quick to yell, "Illegal! Illegal! You're a thief! I'm gonna tell someone who cares on you!" All of you have paid for every single piece of software you own, or has obtained every little piece of software you own legally? Come on now...

Further, if Adobe doesn't tie a serial to a product, whose fault is it REALLY that these guys are taking advantage of the system? If the gas is marked at $3 a gallon, you get a full tank and are only charged $3, do you run inside and tell the attendant, or be happy that you were able to save a few bucks?

I don't promote piracy or anything, but being a poor college kid in need of some applications I could not afford, or could afford if others pitched in, I at least understand where the guys are coming from.

That's what educational software is for. It's a quarter the price of regular software with all the same bang.
