adobe cs4 installation help, nothings happening

i just bought adobe cs4 design premium for my mac. i put all the disks in one after another and they would appear on my desk top, but nothing would really happen. when i would open them i would basically just get files that i don't know what to do with. i've never installed something like this so i don't know if i'm supposed to start something myself. please help, i have class projects i need to start on.

1. Pop in disk 1
2. New window should pop up eventually listing the stuff on the CD
3. Run the setup program.
