Is anyone having problems with the new update?
I try to update mine and it keeps on asking to quit Safari even if its closed.
Even tried force quitting it, restarting Mac, and none of those worked.

I tried downloading new Flash11 dmg file but still didnt work.
It keeps on giving me that "Please quit Safari before install".
Even after I hit "retry" it gives the same message.
Installation stops around 50%.

Anyone aware of this issue and knows how to fix it?
Thanks.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, running Mac OS X 10.8.3 on 2011 MBP.

Right click on Flash player>Show Package Contents>go to Contents/Resources>you'll see the Adobe Flash Player.pkg there, open it and if it works.

Is there after opening the dmg file then to installer?
If so it doesnt exist.

Screenshot
After opening the DMG and right clicking on the Flash Installer, I have another plugin as you can see which shows the path.

Im still getting this...
Tried downloading manually as well.

I really don't get it, I included an Info screenshot of the Installer, is it the same as yours, are the bytes exactly the same?

MD5 Terminal output on the downloaded DMG is

MD5 (/Users/perry/Downloads/18-04-2013/install_flash_player_osx.dmg) = 52d572a2803cf667ff21683a941ea1cb

Did you try an automatic update through System Preferences>Flash Player?(Edit: Think you did)

Sadly I am on a slow Upload internet connection otherwise I could upload it to dropbox or so.

Tried through System Pref as well.
Tried downloading it again.

Do you think uninstalling Flash then reinstalling with new update might give it a fix?
Im just afraid that if it doesnt work, I might not have flash on my mac

Flash does not install in many places as you can see below, it is easy to backup these files to another Folder, then uninstall Flash and retry.

Several of these files are not really needed, like the fpsaud file and the com.adobe.fpsaud.plist file, these are I think for auto updating.

I was just thinking to open up the adobeflash app and uninstall from there.

Yes, you can do so, but copy the 2 files in internet plugins to another Folder and if you can't install put them back so you still have Flash.
Those two files are the only two needed, the other one is just a preference Panel.

Just uninstalled it and downloaded the new flash.
Installed fine without a problem.
I have no clue why it kept on doing that to me though lol

Thanks for your help :D

Hi,

I know this post's getting old, but since this bug's still there, I though I might as well give a solution that worked for me !

To stop the flash installer from asking you to quit safari when it's obviously closed, open Activity Monitor (Applications > Utilities) and search for "dashboard".

You just have to quit the thing named "Flash Player (Internet module DashBoardClient)", then retry the install -> works fine :)

Cheers

switch to chrome or firefox

I mean c'mon at the end of the day, do you want browse the net or hamper your productivity due to safari issues?
