Adobe lists Indesign version 20 as compatible with Mac OS Tahoe but a Google search reveals quite a few problems.

Anyone on Tahoe using Indesign 2025 (and 2026, for that matter, which suffers from the same problems, apparently) ?

I use Indesign as my main app, as do my designers. What issues are you talking about? No issues here running latest Mac OS version as well as in Windows 11.

Apparently, there are reports of Indesign being slow (clicking on something and ID only responding after a second or so), graphical artifacts, etc.

This is only with Indesign version 20 (2025), not with the latest version 21 (2026) ; I have both versions installed but still need the older version for a client of mine...

I have used every version since CS2 and now update pretty much right on release date. There have been a few times I needed to backpedal to an earlier version. The latest version had an issue when not working in an application frame, enlarging the artboard window with the green enlarge button would make it go full screen. This has been remedied though with an update. I have not had any speed issues in many issues. Seeing as you obviously have Adobe CC you can easily install and uninstall if not working and as you have already done you can have both versions installed.

I took the plunge yesterday and upgraded to Tahoe, all is well with Indesign...

Had a backup solution in case it didn't work, still have my 2017 Intel iMac with Ventura, I could have installed Indesign 20 on that machine if things hadn't worked out.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone !

I have issues with ID 2020, 2022, 2023, 2025 (we use all versions for work because of font compatibility issues and imposition plugins).
I am no longer able to package files because fonts and images are saved on a server. Prior to the Tahoe update, it wasn't an issue at all.
This is even though Adobe InDesign 2025.app is allowed to find and communicate with devices on my local network (in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network).
I'm kind of at my wit's end. Even our IT department doesn't know how to fix it… (but they're all PC guys, not Mac).

I recall a similar issue with packaging files located on a server with InDesign when Sierra was released. At the time Apple fixed it on their end, and InDesign's packaging functioned properly once more.

The issue you are dealing with in Tahoe might be related and I suppose only Apple can fix it.

Did you post your problem on the Adobe InDesign forums?

The Adobe forums are a nightmare right now. Adobe switched to a different forum software and all messages from the last two months were lost in the process. They say they'll have those restored before the end of March, but it's a mess.

Those posts may be lost for now as well.

Well, I spent hours on the phone with my IT department; they said it wasn't an issue on their side.
Hours on the phone with Adobe; they said all preferences and settings were ok and it wasn't an issue on their side.
Hours on the phone with Apple; they said that it wasn't an issue on their side as all settings on my computer were correct.
It's enough to make you want to slam your head on the desk, multiple times.

Have you looked at taking your imposition out of Indesign to a standalone app? I used to have plugins and it became a real headache with updates and the imposition not being updated and like you having to keep multiple versions of Indesign and files in various versions. We use Imposition Studio Pro. Has a digital only version if you are not an offset shop. Price for offset is not expensive though either and because it is an app on its own you never have to worry about an update to Indesign breaking your imposition plugin. Full featured and flexible.

We have an HP Indigo printer and need the HP SmartStream Designer plugin to impose. It also imports variable data; which is vital to a number of our projects. After their prices skyrocketed (and they moved to a subscription model instead of a one-time purchase) I did some serious research and called around to find more affordable alternatives. We talked to Design Merge, but their software couldn't import the hundreds of imposition templates that we'd created in SD and their variable data import was iffy. So, for the time being, it looks like we may be stuck paying an absolutely outrageous subscription fee (price went up 300%!!! for ONE year, as opposed to one-time purchase).
However… I forwarded the link you provided to management and my department supervisor. He may poo-poo having to recreate all of our templates, but maybe the price may be an enticing factor.

yeah, we had that with our old Indigo. Was always a pain and we had the same issues you are having with needing to keep old versions of Indesign as SmartStream is slow to update. The imposition software I linked has some variable features coming out in V10, they are in beta of V10. Not sure if it will handle the variable work you do. We do all our variable with the build in data merge feature in Indesign, just basic names and addresses, no rules to worry about.

The price is relatively cheap and a one time purchase for the imposition software. I am on V8 myself, have had no reason to update. There is other software out there for the variable work, I found it pricey though. The one we tried for a job that we did need rules for was through Konica Minolta, they have a plugin they resell from another company. It is called Accurio Pro Powerful tool and handles rules easily. Price was something like $3K CDN a year. If I remember what the pricing was for Smart Stream when we had an Indigo it was around $2K a year. The people who make it for Konica sell it on their own as well: www.meadowsps.com

If there's one thing I've learned using the Mac (and Windows, quite frankly) since 1984, it's that 99% of computer problems are self-inflicted.

That's NOT to say that 99% of people are ignorant or are doing something they shouldn't be. It's just that I've never witnessed any computer that doesn't work perfectly "out of the box." It isn't until we start installing all manner of applications and utilities, and adding 3rd party hardware that things start going sideways. Who do we blame there. Apple for changing code in the OS? The software developer for not updating their code to work with Apple's latest OS versions? Hardware manufactures who use the lowest common denominator for parts, I/O, and compatibility? It's a chicken vs. egg scenario.

With that in mind, I've been running InDesign on Tahoe Macs with no problems at all – other than a few long-standing bugs like InDesign's horrible implementation of GPU Preview, among others – but those bugs are well documented and have existed since long before Tahoe, and they don't "slow InDesign down," they just make it annoying.

You don't know why ID might be running slow for some people, and you should take that into consideration. Maybe they don't use a font manager and have thousands upon thousands of fonts activated (which will make ID glacially slow). Or maybe they have a poorly-coded plug-in/extension installed. Who knows. You may be running a much cleaner system than 99% of people and have no problems at all... you won't know until you try it.

ID had massive problems at the beginning, spinning balls, freezes, but probably not due to Tahoe but the 2025 version of Indesign. The Adobe forums were full of people complaining about the fact that for months the software was almost not usable, while the prior version ran fine.
As of now ID work as well or as bad as it ever did.

Yeah, I saw the complaints. I had none of the issues mentioned on any of the Macs I use or manage.
