Adobe today announced that it will be releasing a more full-fledged version of its popular video editor Premiere on the iPhone and iPad later this month.

The app can be pre-ordered in the App Store, ahead of a September 30 launch. It is free to use, with options to pay for cloud storage and generative AI credits.

Adobe promises that the new Premiere app on the iPhone and iPad will be more like Premiere Pro on the Mac and PC. Adobe says the app will allow for "pro-quality video editing," with key features including a multi-track timeline with unlimited video, audio, and text layers, automatic captions with stylized subtitles, 4K HDR support, the ability to generate sound effects and other assets with the Adobe Firefly suite of AI tools, and more.

In the app, users will be able to export videos directly to TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram with one tap, or they can send the projects to Premiere Pro.

The new Premiere app will replace the more lightweight Premiere Rush app for the iPhone, which will be removed from the App Store on September 30. After that date, existing users may continue to use Premiere Rush on devices where it is already installed, until the app is fully discontinued on September 30, 2026.

You can learn more about the new app on Adobe's website.

Just give me Lightroom Classic on the iPad, or at least give the cloud version of Lightroom feature parity. Come on Adobe!

If it stays free, I’d recon at least one person on this planet figures to get an iPad and use this instead of Premiere on PC/Mac.
It, I assume, won’t share your content with Adobe, and you don’t have to pay a monthly subscription for something that barely works without problems.
A couple of years and the iPad payed of by itself.

Until they fix their scamming price subscription model, Adobe should Premiere a launch out of the market.

man this get so tiring. Adobe is professional software primarily for people making a living creating media. It’s DEAD CHEAP if you are a working professional. I do my first photo job in a month and a tiny portion of what I get paid for a 2 hour job pays for my entire month of Creative Cloud.

There’s many free or one time purchase alternatives if you aren’t a working professional.

My take is ok.. good deal however... I pay monthly for Adobe suite. I am using Adobe Premier Pro less and less thanks to FREE apps like Edit and various software I use online (Riverside) for podcasting and overlaying images on my videos etc.

One of the Adobe apps in their suite is Adobe Rush. I would use Rush on the go for quick stuff I needed to stitch together or when I was traveling (way before Edits released). There was a bug where you could not export in 4K. Everyone was like put in feedback.. umm yeah I did MANY times for years and it was never fixed. The changes they have made to PS Express were not helpful in my opinion. If my yearly payment was not a write-up for my business I would have probably cancelled it by now. I don't mind Adobe Premier Pro as it took me a bit to get use to it.. but to me their rollouts and updates are either not good or far too late.

For anyone who hasn't used Edits (I know its a Meta app) it is super easy and useful. It does more than I would expect and makes my quick Reels edits etc. on the go super easy. I stopped using Rush years ago and iMovie.. yeah I gave up on that many moons ago.

I agree largely, creative cloud is simply the cost of doing business. As a creative professional myself, it’s annoying, but not as overblown as it sounds.

My complaint is the “industry standard” lock in. CC is most of what’s taught even when they’re are modern alternatives actually used in the industry (angry with you Animate) and it’s tough for hobbyists to learn.

Adobe should offer a free license for non-commercial use. AutoDesk does, and their licensing is far worse than Adobe’s if you ask me.

Some folks don’t like being able to use professional tools for free anymore. ;0)

If it's "Pro" level like how Photoshop is on the iPhone, no thanks, I'll pass.

Adobe is killing the name and trust they've been built for great products on desktop by giving crappy incapable apps the same name on the mobile. (Except Lightroom, that one's good IMHO)

Yers, 100$. But from the sound of it, this is Adobe's attempt to change this. If true this will not be a crappy usless app.

I have my doubts because I can not imagine a modern multi-track video editor on a tiny phone screen. Most users need at least two large 27 inch screens.
