Lightroom for iPad has received a solid update with this new masking shiz. Excellent news.
Yep. The UI is a bit clunky IMHO but the functionality is very nice. I messed around with a couple of shots in a spare moment - three of birds and one with sky - and the selection worked very well. Even in the editing of the selection with a brush which happens to need a pencil and doesn't work with a finger.

Their subscription pricing is too out to lunch and far too greedy. For a student Photoshop is still $26/ month CAD for the first year and $40/ month afterwards. That's too much for a single title. It's should be more like $10 - $20 per month.

I bought Affinity Photo yesterday and have been very happy with it so far.

Did you just want PS? You can get it in the photo CC bundle (whatever its called). I pay 10 UKP a month. I am thinking of Affinity though to be honest i didn't like the trial so much, might just be 25 years of Photoshop muscle memory getting in the way...

needs OS 10.15 minimum ? so if you want Adobe cc 2022 and also run 32bit software, youll need to update the OS and install mojave on an external disk!

I had to create an account just to upvote and reply to this commend - that's how furious I am. Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere Pro user but I'm just fed up. Using these products until I can cancel penalty free.
change it into a different package, the 14 day cancellation resets and you can drop it on the spot for no penalty.

I had a gig I HAD to rent PS for, and despite me being careful to choose 1 month, it somehow gave me the 6 month penalty fee for dropping it... Figured I can upgrade, and it goes into a 14 day trial that you can drop right away for free.

For a company about creativity, why are all of their graphics and presentations SO incredibly tasteless.

I mean, just look at this image. What the hell is even going on here.

I'm starting to give up on Adobe.

Premiere is still a laughing stock compared to FCPX or Davinci's Resolve that smoke it in almost every front.

Might just start phasing it out for a FCPX and After Effects workflow.

Photoshop and Premiere Pro have excellent alternatives, but i feel like Lightroom has no competition.

What are you planning to use to edit and organize photos once you drop Lightroom?

Adobe mid 2021 on their official blog:
"The first apple silicon beta for After Effects will be available later in 2021".

Adobe late 2021 after the v.22.0 has been released:
AE 22.1 beta is not apple silicon compatible and the post has been deleted from the website.

Very honest behaviour for a company that makes you pay 40$ a month for their software...

I agree - so far Lightroom has no competition.

Already purchased both Affinity and Pixelmator Pro to use and of course will slightly alter my workflow.

I think everyone dreamt of letting the Creative Cloud subscription go, but unfortunately only specific workflows can take advantage of that.
For example, for illustrators, going with the Affinity Suite is a truly viable option.

In my case, though, I'm stuck with the CC as After Effects has no competition.
Motion and Davinci Resolve can do some of the things After Effects can, but try animating something like this in Apple Motion:

(I made this animation)

having now explored the new features, aside from masking, the Neural stuff is pretty much a gimmick. Be nice if it actually worked properly. Constant, “we’ve temporarily disabled this filter because of an error.”

Thankfully there’s Luminar AI.

Just in time for brand new MacBook Pro 2021. Surprisingly, Adobe develops these apps on not so state of the art hardware.

I bought Photoshop Elements for my school work and it was still more expensive than Affinity Photo. Secondly they still don't have native M1 support even on the recently released 2022 version which was probably the nail in the coffin for Adobe.

Creative Cloud is malware. It runs tons of processes in the background that are talking to Adobe servers all the time and sending god knows what data, even if you have none of their apps open, and uses a lot of memory.

The PS only bundle is around $10, at least here in the US.

As someone who only touched up photos for a hobby, I really miss being able to buy a license. I can’t justify the cost; I may use it a lot in one month, then sparingly for a few weeks, etc.

There are plenty of consumers who think the only way to edit a pdf, or hell even view one, is via Adobe (I wonder how many people know Preview can edit pdf's) and the only way to edit pictures is Photoshop.

Thats the power of marketing. Its actually the same reason why many people think they need to buy a $1-3k Mac to browse the web and facebook when a chromebook or cheap pc would work just as well.
