Hello MacRumor Admins,

I like to disable AdBlock on your site so I can see the ads and support the MacRumor operations but when I did for few days, the loading speed of the forum was really bad with flash ads. Is there anyway of making the ads static and less bandwidth demanding.

Also, I saw a few ads for android phones which I consider somewhat offensive considering the site we're on :p

Thanks for your hardwork and keep up the greatness!

P.S: any plans on improving the MR app?

We can disable specific problem ads, but unfortunately the state of the ad industry is what it is and we're limited in what we can do overall if we want to continue to put food on the table.

We don't individually approve ads that appear on the site, and we're happy to take money from Android phone folks if they're willing to help us out. :) I'm not sure how much success they have here, but there are obviously some people here who do use Android phones.

As for your app mention, we do not currently have an app, so I'm not sure what you're referring to. A straight-up news app replicating the site experience is a significant cash outlay for us that doesn't actually improve the user experience much, if at all. But we do have some thoughts on what we could do on the app side that might be interesting...not sure on timing though.

I couldn't sworn there was an App before that I downloaded, it was some time ago...

I hear ya on the ad industry...I'll live without it and continue to support the good folks here!

Thanks for your reply :)

If you did, it wasn't ours. There have been a few unauthorized ones over the years, but they've been removed from the App Store.
