Hi,

I've currently got a Belkin Play Max, which has died so am looking for a new ADSL router..
Up until now I've been considering the Netgear DGND3700 as I want dual band, 1Gb LAN...

But here is where I need some advice.. I'm now considering a separate modem and going for an Airport Extreme, seeing as I will only have 2 non Apple connections - my xBox and my work Thinkpad..

I am technical, but modems are not my area so not totally sure what I'd need for the modem..

Any help please?

ADSL modems are pretty much all the same ... crappy. I'd just look on Amazon or Newegg (or your country's equivalent) and get the one with the best reviews.

I have this router. It replaced a 4th Gen Time Capsule/2Wire BT Business Hub combo, and the Netgear is better. Better range, better throughput, and gets a better ADSL speed.

No complaints with the Netgear apart from all the blingy LEDs. Covered them with black tape to stop the blue and green flashing that was lighting up the hallway.
