When viewing the tracking page on FedEx a note unders the package states that someone 21 years of age or older will be required to sign for release of a Pre-Ordered iPad 3rd gen. This can be a problem for many of us including me, as I am 19 years old. I don't see how they can't release the package to me as my name is the recipient. Also, I paid for it with my credit card with my name on it. I am concerned for others as I am having it delivered to my University and know our package receiver fits the qualifications, but if I was at home I would technically not be elegible to sign for my own iPad. What do you guys think? Will the people who are under 21 be able to sign for their iPads?

P.S. This has happened before for some of my packages and I was able to sign for it even though I was under 21. I suggest that when the FedEx person ask you your name you clearly state your name and they will look at the package and will not even ask you for your ID, but make sure to have a photo ID available in the event that they want to check your name, but I highly doubt they will even look at your DOB.

I have never had a fedex guy ID me. Usually asks if Im Mr. Last name on package. I say yes he/she says sign here and hands over the package. I dont think its a real problem unless you look 10.

Weird. Mine says indirect signature required.

Same with my smart cover, but not for my iPads. I guess it depends on how and when your iPad was shipped. Both of mine are coming from the States (literally up the street from me in Nashville) via FedEx, but I see some people are reporting them shipping directly from China via UPS.

The ones from China are being Engraved most likely.

I wouldn't worry about it especially if the package is under your name.

Never heard of a age requirement to sign for something in the UK. I've had delivers from every main courier in the country; delivered for me or someone else in the house. Signed for all of them an only 17.

I'm 19 and I've never had any problems signing for packages. I even signed for my 4S no questions asked when it was delivered under my mothers name. My tracking also says indirect signature required.

Fedex automatically does that if the stated value is over $500 (as I learned when I sold a laptop). Some delivery people don't really care though, but it just means someone has to sign for the package.

Time to grow a nice beard and mustache before Friday delivery. If all else fail, Fedex guy is going down.:D

Um, I'm pretty sure adult means 18. And I've signed for stuff before when I was younger than 18 and they didn't care.

UPS and FdEx will be in so much of a hurry that they will be tossing it over the fence.

That's sad, but true! It would be hilarious if every one on a whole block ordered one. Seeing the FedEx man go up to every house would be priceless.

Lol i remember seeing a utube video of literally someone throwing a large package over a fence -- they were fired HAHHA

To the OP: if you show the fed ex guy your online receipt for the ipad, I'm sure that will carry more weight. The age thing is just a little overboard for an electronic device. You paid for it so you should receive it. Its not drugs lol

I've never had a delivery person check my ID, ever. I'm pretty sure as long as you don't look 12 and you sign for it there won't be a problem.

I wouldn't put too much stock into that to be honest. Unless you're actually a young child they're aren't going to question your age. If you're at the same address and especially if it's in your name then it should be just fine. I think they do that just to cover themselves more then anything else. Whilst I'm over 21 I've signed packages meant for others in the same household and never had a problem. If anything they want to just deliver the package and be on their way.

Probably because the OP's package is going to a University address and not a private home/apt/condo etc.
Nope. Both iPads that I ordered are shipping through Nashville and each have the 'Adult Signature Required' service type. Shipping to a private home, btw.

I've never been ID'd (though I am pushing 30 and look it). Usually, the FedEx guy just hands me the signature device and says thanks.

UPS will just knock on my door and leave my package there.
