That's sad, but true! It would be hilarious if every one on a whole block ordered one. Seeing the FedEx man go up to every house would be priceless.

I used to run a game store around the time that the first playstation was out which was notoriously prone to failure especially when suffering the smallest impact. A common occurrence would be me glancing outside my glass doors and seeing the ups guy tossing my boxes out of the back of the truck before he piled them up and I would just see the Sony logo flying through the air. Needless to say there was a lot of broken systems .

My question is our delivery drivers don't even bother going to our apt doors anymore the leasing office signs and holds packages so I hope there isn't a problem were they won't leave it there.

Go to the Apple site and print off the pre-sign for delivery form.
If the package ships "Adult Signature Required", then the pre-sign form technically will not be acceptable by FedEx. Not saying it won't work, but technically they should not deliver with only a pre-signed form.

Both of ours say Adult Signature Required, no big deal. Only times I've been asked for ID was if it was wine being delivered. Delivery to a business or a home could be the difference in Adult vs. Indirect signature required, for a university delivery probably adult required there since fraud possibilities could be higher if it's a dorm, ours are going to our home.

When I had to get a replacement iPad 1 the FedEx guy asked for ID but that was because I missed him the first try and walked down the street to get him before he left.

I'm 20. The package addressed to me and I paid for it with my own credit card. I don't anticipate any problems. I won't be home so I'm just leaving a note for them to leave it at the leasing office.

Not sure who they can legally do this. In the US, at age 18 you are legally an adult and can technically live on your own without parental guardianship.

What are you to do, get an older neighbor to hang out with you in order to sign it.

Also, these guys are on a strict schedule. They are not going to wait around for someone to answer the door, not have an ID, tell him to wait, and then 5 minutes later once you find/get your ID, he will give it to you.

BTW, I have ordered four items over $500 from Apple (iPad 1, Mac Mini, 17" MBP, and an iPad 2) and none of them required me showing an ID. I have also ordered a number of lower end items such as iPod Touches, Nanos, various covers from the Apple Store and again, never needed a signature. As a matter of fact, my last Apple TV did not even need a signature. I just happened to look outside and it was there on the front porch.

Never heard of being ID'd for a FedEx package. I've even signed for my neighbor's packages, and she's signed for mine, if we are not home and the delivery guy is ok with that (just makes a note as to who it was signed by and what that address is).

Seems like not everyone has seen the pre-signature form in the confirmation email. You can print out a page from apples website, sign it, and leave it on your door. The delivery will be left regardless who is/isn't home at the time.
