I find that the iphone contact gesture is pretty uncomplete, so i'll try coding my own way for this, an app with more advanced features.

The features i will try to code are:
    - blacklist : you can define status for contacts, for exemple, you can block them so the iphone will automatically reject / let ring when they call
    - friend's friends gesture : you can define relationship between your contacts, so you can organize more things, for exemple, organizing tables at a wedding...
    - associate contacts to their social networks accounts, like facebook, myspace, flick, linkedin, viadeo, twitter,, so you can get from it all informations you don't have, and import medias, or events from it.
    - connexion to contacts' pages, blogs, with RSS feeds
    - associate events to contacts who 're in. import events from facebook, etc. Alarm, birthdays, partys, etc. gesture.
    - group gesture : group sms, doodle survey to organize meeting, etc...
    - places gesture : associate some places (work, home, favorite pubs, restaurants) to your contacts, with google map/google earth/google streetview connexion.

I'm open to all your ideas !
Here is a link of a small survey, to let me know what options interest you more. It's very quick (10 yes/no questions), and it helps me a lot, so please take a look:

    Thank you.

These are all great ideas. Let me just be the one to say, don't get too wrapped up working on an app that Apple will likely reject and then 90% copy for their own Contacts app.

We haven't seen the last of 3.0 enhancements, and Contacts may be one of the apps to-be-updated.

I would actually like to see a division of contacts. Like you can see All, Business, Family, Friends, etc. You should be able to add your own groups as well. And blacklist? Yes please.

And you'd be the one picking what the app does when you do a certain gesture. Like the user, I like that.

He could always release it anyways and people with jailbroken phones could just use it

    well, lftrghtparadigm

Do you really thing Apple will do that ?
we've already seen great complete apps, maybe Apple will copy it some days, but i don't think they will reject my project, right ?

    Tell me more please...

They might, anything close to the original contacts, look at how pissy they got about 3rd part browsers!

I think third party browsers are allowed now... if they use safari's engine :p
