I chose 15" over 13", because I was under the impression the new 15" MBP is about the size of previous lines of 13" MBP, and 13" now in the size of 11" MBA.

what are the advantages of the 13 inch touch bar rmbp over the 15 inch?

Pros:

-Portability

-lighter

-smaller size

-function key option

-significantly cheaper

-better speakers in non-TB model (less tinny)

-Way better battery life (non-TB model)

-Higher pixel density on screen (correct me if I'm wrong.)

Cons:

-Less power, even maxed specs (15-25%, depending on 13" specs)

-Smaller screen

-smaller bag required for 13", which may look more like a man purse.

Years ago I had a 17" MBP and was horrified when it got discontinued. Got used to the 15". Then I tried a late 2015 13" and realized that it was so much more usable for me.

I debated 15" vs 13" for this new model and went with my instinct for the 13". Couldn't be happier with my decision. It's so slim, light and easy to work with. Am traveling this Thanksgiving, a bunch of flights, and I know it's gonna be a breeze with this one. 13" in space gray is so sexy I just love it...

But 15 inch is still portable right?

Yes, especially the 2016 models. The "portability" argument for the 13 inch is kind of not that valid anymore given that the 15 inch has a smaller foot print and weighs lighter than its predecessor.

As someone who went from a 13 inch to a 15 inch, I can say that I don't think I'll ever go back to 13 inches, the extra screen real estate is really useful for doing work(coding, video editing, reading, etc.) or even just enjoying watching some netflix... The smaller footprint and thinner bezels make this newer 15 inch model great in terms of portability.

It really comes down to price, and the 15 inch is significantly higher than the 13 inch since it does have more power.

But to be honest, I find the price of the 15 inch more justifiable given the tech specs. The 13 inch just seems overpriced to me given that it only has a dual core cpu and no discrete gpu.

You 2016 guys are such loser's...I got me the 2017 MBP!!!

So would you say you get more value for money with the 15 inch?
I didnt talk about value for money. You asked about pros, no money involved, obviously is more expensive, so it depends on if you wanna spend that money or if it's worth it for you, but speaking of pros and cons, is obvious the only pro you can find is smaller and lighter, for me I want a bigger screen so there's no pros for me on the 13 inch except the price.

15 is too large, you won't be moving it around a lot without second thought as you would with 13.
It is just too bulky, huge.
Also 13 just looks much sexier. Here, check out this image:

Like, why this ugly space between screen and keyboard on 15?
Why the grills are so huge?
Finally, why the keyboard is so small? They are identical keyboards, only on 15 it is pasted into middle and looks ugly as hell, but on 13 it looks great.
uh, the bottom of the laptop must match the size of the display. do you not think it would be awkward with such a large display with the same bottom footprint as the 13"? and in order the maximize the bottom real estate, Apple added larger speaker grills and I'm assuming a more expansive air cavities for optimized cooling.

The 13" is, for the vast majority of users, the best choice in the lineup - it's a great form factor, the screen is excellent and 99.99% of users do not need a dedicated graphics card, more than a dual-core processor, etc.

Depends if you need/want the benefit of a discrete GPU and bigger screen. I think in just about every other spec you can CTO a 13" same as a 15". When you are talking MBP there really is no value for $ as far a hardware specs go. They are all expensive for what you get, and I saw that as a 15" owner. Nice machine but not value priced.

When I see my wife's new 15" MB Pro, I want that size. When I work on my 13" around the house, I'm happy I went 13".

There is no peace in this particular valley. Buy what your gut says (assuming either will do what you need a computer to do) and forget about it...

I'm exchanging my 15" 2.9/1TB/460 this afternoon for a 13" 3.3/16GB/512GB. While I love the horsepower and screen real estate of the 15", the risks around the dGPU and the price difference ($1500 CAD) did me in.

The keyboard should be bigger

Which would people recommend for entertainment at home and on the go? I don't really need the dgpu or 16gb rams and I do like the portability of the 13 inch. But at the same time I like the screen real estate on the 15 inch. And it's still portable.

13 smaller more portable cheaper
15 bigger screen more power

that's pretty much the whole story.

13" with an external display at home?

That's what I did and love it. I came from an old iMac. Still have the large screen for home, but can pick up and go whenever you want.

Also, it's so easy to set up separate desktops in Sierra you can keep multiple windows separated.

But then I start thinking I may as well have the extra power of the 15 inch and the 15 inch screen, if I'm going to pay for the MacBook Pro and the screen. It works out the same price.

With the touch bar I think the 13" screen size is key. Having tried both models in the store, it felt far more awkward to use the touch bar consistently when it was surrounded by such a large amount of speaker bezel in the keyboard area, especially since theres no tactile feedback and you need to be able to "learn" where the touch buttons are.

Certainly. Or you can keep the screen and use it for the laptop when you sell your 13" and get the next one. Or buy a used screen and save some money.

Only you can decide which is more important to you, but it sounds like you are leaning towards power over portability.
