Am a T-Mobile customer but considering waiting for the Sim free version of the X. What are the advantages of the Sim free version over the T-Mobile version other than the Sim free version works on all networks & that apparently the Qualcomm chipsets are superior to the Intel chipsets in the GSM version.

Other than the QCA chipset nothing, when I exchanged my 32GB TMO iPhone 7+ for a 128 GB Global version at Apple they gave me a Verizon one since it was practically the global version.

Did you notice any difference in the quality of receiving the GSM signal between the 2 phones as I have read that the Qualcomm are superior than Intel in receiving the signal. I don't find T-Mobile all that reliable in getting a strong signal even in major cities but I stay with them because of their plans allowing use around the world.

The Intel version is inferior in every way, it's the "iPhone X Minus". Don't buy it, don't settle, only go for the best.

Judging from past devices, the Qualcomm part has better signal reception and better battery life. The difference is absolutely huge and could be the difference between life and death, I'm sure you can imagine some scenario where you are just out of range on your Intel phone when tragedy strikes?

Made a difference in low signal areas as tests have already shown. If you can, do get the QCA version.

Only problem is with the demand for the "regular" X it will probably be awhile before Apple releases the sim free model

If you are going to blow a $1000+ why not wait for the one with a better modem, even if the difference is slight.

In my experience the differences are negligible day to day. Other than resale where some like to buy unlocked I say go for what is available
