just to see what the quality was like i saw a fight scene and well. hmm. its a bit strange. its like all those indie japanese films where strange things happen. sorta like that Crouching Dragon Hiding Jack (forgot name  )

still awaiting the right time to watch this.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is an independent Japanese movie? Wow.

... My first pirate action in a LONG time...

Me too, though I'll end up buying it anyway, good movie though, not great, the fight scenes were very good, but I felt that the storyline just didn't really do anything.

oh, and btw. I love FFVII, hated VIII, X, X-2 and liked IX :p

it seems indie with its strangeness, maybe not budget, but its strangeness for sure. not sure if i like that style of fighting, i mean i dont hate it but i dont love it. meh :)

As the penny arcade guys said;

This film contains scenes that may be totally ****ing awesome. Your favorite characters may be rendered in extreme detail as they take part in mind-blowing battles set in familiar locales. Futuristic scabbard/motorcycles might be depicted in a way that makes them appear sweet.

This movie is great. Great action, great animation, and it gives me this warm fuzz feeling inside.

If you've never played FF7 or didn't understand the plot in the game you may not like this movie. Otherwise you must see this movie, it is truly great. Just amazing.

I can't get over how great this is. If it hits US theaters i'll more than likely go see it more than once. And will for sure buy the dvd. Heck I may even go out an buy a new copy of ff7 (mines scratched). Its that good.

its anime, i think its a requirement to be strange.

I wouldn't go as far as to say anime....*shivers*

I liked it, and the last fight scene was just great! Go Cloud!

F***ing awesome movie. :D

The final battle was awesome as hell. ;)

For those who are planning on rebuying FF7, I believe Circuit City still sells them new. ;)

Wow, he got the title, culture, and "independent" part wrong. Try for 4 wrongs in a row next time.

Just saw it. Incredible scenes!!

And......(spoiler below)

........Cloud does an Omnislash AND fights a "Weapon!!!" *faints*

Too bad I forgot the original FFVII story and got a bit lost. Forgot what happened to Cloud in the game. I know he was "produced," or was a part of something bigger, but can't remember a darned thing about it. I'll read the story online somewhere and re-watch the movie. Or I'll just play FFVII again.

just saw the full thing. maybe it was having to read subtitles distracting from the rest of the film but i cant say i liked it that much. if it was a game i'd give it 50%. half of it was good half bad.

i thought Final Fantasy was all about storyline too? just like 10-2 this was lacking. boiled down it was nothing more than a hunt for a head with the predictable ending. felt more like watching an art piece than a film (again with the Crouching Tiger relatedness!).

that said i haven't played past the first 10 minutes of FF7 and only seeing further parts from my girlfriend playing it on her PC. its probably more a fan service than anything else.

Conversely, I've played FF7 right up to the final boss, who I didn't manage to beat :(

I still have my save file though, so one day I'll get around to finishing it

I think its a new limit break. never saw it in the game though. I think.

Plus I heard they are releasing 2 new games to FF7, one on psp, and another on ps2. Not confirmed, just a rumor.

^^I think Omnislash looked a bit different in the game, but the idea was pretty similar. Maybe it just looked different in the movie, although I guess you may be right.

I think the boss, Sephiroth, is supposed to be the easiest opponent in the game. I don't think you can actually lose.

Weapon......especially the one underwater......that was hell. I almost beat the Weapon underwater without the "Knights of the Round" summon. That's how much I played that game. In fact, I was so set on beating that thing that I played for hours upon hours, weeks upon weeks, and I eventually forgot the entire story. :D

Still couldn't remember the story when I watched Advent Children the 2nd time, and my subtitles are dodgy. Are there only one set of english subtitles in circulation?

I've seen 3 different sets of subtitles, though I can't remember any major differences from the scenes I saw. Though there is the 'yo' subtitle set which can get a bit annoying :D

Oh, and the two games coming out are:

FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus (PS2): Vincent is the main character I think.

FFVII: Crisis Core (PSP): Not much information for this ATM

The "yo" subtitle is the one I have, and it IS annoying, seeing how nobody in the movie says "yo."

I'll get one of the other subtitles and watch it again. Maybe it'll make more sense.

Wow, how amazing it is that people talk bad about "anime fighting." Jesus. Look at American superheros! They suck! Take Tetsuo from Akira and put him up against Magneto from the XMen. LEts see, a punk kid that can destroy an entire city with his mind versus a guy dressed in a purple cape with a condom on his head who can control magnetism.

Seriously, there isn't one American comic character, or animation from America that has awesome fight scenes like the ones in FF AC. Fast paced and very exagerrated. I'm sorry, I don't get off on boring fights that I could perform myself. I want to see stuff that I could never physically possibly do.

While I couldn't stand FFVII, Advent Children was simply amazing.
