    Capsule summary if you read the whole thread is -- 8 GB failed abysmally.

    Although 8 GB is recognized, as soon as you start addressing more than 4 GB, performance slows to a crawl.

    I was more surprised that the machine booted though. I doubt we're going to get a fix from Apple for current hardware, ever.

    Perhaps it's a conflict with the firmware or some hardware component of the MacBook Pro, but I always knew they could take it, we just needed somebody to prove it... and now it has been proved (though buggy).

    Well, its been proven that it can be physically installed, however it has also been shown that the memory controller or the firmware or both cannot address higher than 4 GB properly.
