A few minutes ago I was visiting a site and for once an ad at the top of the page caught my eye and not for a good reason. It had my profile picture from facebook and said my name in something like:
"Hey my name, your friends are all Zoosking, you should try it too."

I don't care what zoosking is and I know my friends aren't doing it but I would like to tell facebook not to share my pics/info like this, is there something I can turn off on it?
I don't mind the ones that use my ip and use my location for advertising, but this goes a bit too far for my taste.

Anyone else have any thoughts on these kinds of adverts?

I believe you agreed to this kind of thing when you signed up on facebook. Read the TOS when you sign up for an account.

    I think this is it.

I'm not sure if it's facebook sharing info as it may be a clever little bit of code that links your facebook photo into an ad. Meaning it changes for each person if they have a facebook account. There was a thread in the picture gallery here called "Who is this?" (or something like that) and when you clicked in, if you had a facebook account, you saw your own face. It scared the crap out of several people at first. It wasn't malicious. (I wish I could find that thread) It may be something like that. Not that I am defending facebook, I think they are evil crap.

I would tend to think this is more than likely what it is also.

But, with all the big ad networks online, the ads come atcha much more targeted than you'd realize.

You can opt out of this in the privacy settings I believe. I ran across this same thing earlier this year and was able to opt out but I can't remember the specifics for doing it.

Yeah, that's what it probably is. I think people who didn't have Facebook profiles just got a broken image.

Is that still around? Any links? How would a MacRumors thread connect to my Facebook account? Must be based on cookies in your browser...
