Guys, I have the following devices here:

1) My ISP modem. It has wi-fi, but the wireless speeds are poor. That's why I disabled it.

2) Archer C8, gigabit router. I can get at best 60 MB/s max speed.

3) PC, iPAD, iPhone...

First of all, the Archer C8 has 4 ETHERNET ports, and one port called "Internet".

The ISP modem has the usual 4 LAN ports. Oh, and my PC can't connect using wi-fi, but has a USB dongle that allows me to use the Airpods (and PS4 controller) via bluetooth.

This is how things are working here:

- PC ----------- Ethernet cable (CAT-6) goes to... Archer C8 (Ethernet port).

- Archer C8 ---------- Ethernet cable connected to "Internet port" goes to..... ISP modem (LAN)

If I want to share files between the PC and iPAD I can simply type 192.168.8.144 (the IP attributed to PC) in the iPAD, and choose a port.

All contents from the PC are visible in the iPAD. The Archer C8 reserved the IP 192.168.8.144 for the PC.

Now that all this has been said, here's my question:

- I want to move the Archer C8 (wifi router) away from my room.

Meaning I will have to unplug the PC from it (that CAT-6 cable mentioned before).

If I do this then I can easily continue using the internet by plugging the ethernet cable to the ISP modem.

The problem is that my PC will stop being visible to the internet, and streaming speeds will be reduced drastically, if I connect to my PC using (for example) the IP 192.168.15.120.

What I want to do is simple: continue using my PC through the IP 192.168.8.144 and retain the 60 MB/s speeds in my network.

I suspect the answer is: get a wi-fi network card, and install in your motherboard. Don't get a USB-wi-fi dongle, it's not worth it.

But will this be a solution in my case? Unfortunatelly I can't get another cable just to connect to the Archer C8, since I'll move this router away from my current bedroom.

This issue has been solved by doing the following:

1) Connect the Archer C8 router to the ISP modem, using an ethernet cable in one of the 4 "Ethernet" ports from the former, and then in the LAN port from the ISP modem. That means the sole "Internet" port from the Archer will not be used.

2) In Archer internal settings disable DHCP. Also select "Dynamic IP" instead of Static.

3) In Windows 10 input these settings, since the ISP will attribute 192.168.15.X IPs for everyone:

This is required because in the ISP modem internal settings I needed to configure port forwarding to ports 7001-7004, attributed to the IP 192.168.15.141. So that my uTorrent app from PC can download at good speeds.

4) In order to access the Archer C8 internal settings again I need to do step 3), and insert this data instead:

192.168.8.120 (or any other IP in the last 3 digits)
255.255.255.0
192.168.8.1 for gateway

And then in the browser go to 192.168.8.1 to visit Archer's internal settings.

5) The PC doesn't have USB or wireless PCI card. Only USB bluetooth dongle. Meaning I'll need to buy one, with the 802.11ac technology, to transmit at gigabit speeds.

Currently my PC is connected to the Archer C8 using a CAT-6 cable. If I connect this cable to the ISP modem the upload speeds inside my network will drop from 60 MB/s to 12 MB/s, making impossible to stream and upload files the way I want.

There's just one question left: will I achieve gigabit speeds with a wireless PCI-E card? Or I really need to connect a CAT-6 cable to the Archer C8?

Aside from this question all others have been clarified.
