Hello. I have a gaming rig that is proving to be a lot harder to sell than I thought. I don't game on it at all anymore. I am looking to downsize/minimize and would like a 13" MacBook Pro for productivity and portability.

Anyhow, I have someone how has an early 13" MacBook Pro i5 2.7/8GB/256GB with 180 cycles on the battery. It is in really great condition. My gaming rig is an i7 8700/16GB/GTX 1070/256GB.

I know the specs are not equal, at all. However, he is willing to throw in $250 on top of the trade. At this point, I am really considering this exchange, but I wanted to know what you all thought of this. Perhaps, get a little advice from the members here who have had experience with this model rMBP and if it is a good trade.

Thank you in advance for any help your replies.

A 4 year old laptop in exchange for a coffee lake based computer running a GTX 1070 GPU? I'd say the specs are not just in the same neighborhood but in different zip codes. Not even 250 dollars would make up the difference. If you built the desktop yourself, you probably paid more for the processor then what he's offering for cash with the trade in.

If it were me, I'd not consider this trade at all.

Thank you for your reply. I know it is really a wonky deal, but I cannot get this thing sold. I think you are correct, though. It is something to think about.
