I recently got a 2 TB RAID disk and wanted to migrate most of my media files (music, photos, documents, etc.) to it and leave applications and system files on my main (1 TB) disk.

What's the best way to do this? I know there are hidden/library files scattered about the main folders in my home directory, will these be a problem? Can I just manually move, Documents, Movies, Music, folders to the external drive without trouble (making sure to move the iPhoto/iTunes libraries separately)?

Is there a way to keep the icons on the main folders after the move, or do they only appear when the folders are located in the home directory?

Thanks!
