Unfortunately, I couldn't find a Hoss around here to ride - I would have given it serious consideration, although it sounds like I still would have been swapping out the handlebars, from what the MBA review said.

I've still got my old hardtail and with a tune up it'll keep on rolling for a while. :)

I'm not an avid cyclist by any means, but I bought a Cannondale recently and I absolutely love it.

I will suggest the Time ATAC Alium S clipless pedals, they rock. A great site is www.pricepoint.com. They have fantastic prices, and ship really fast.

The Deore is ok, and they should give you decent service. When you are ready, I would suggest two things. Learn how to do it yourself. This will let you save more money. And, if money is tight, buy last years model! You can get the XT 752 crankset with bottom bracket for around $130. I would not worry too much about your shifters, new ones won't necessarily make things better. If you can get a great deal on some LX's, or XT's, then I would go for it, but only if it is a good deal. One thing I would like at, if you plan on replacing your shifters, is to use good quality cable housings. I recommend Avid Flak Jackets. They might be overkill for shifter cables. As for your derailleurs, I would hold off until you really need them. (unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket :) ). In my opinion, you need to decide how hard you plan on riding your bike. This will give you an idea on which components too buy (like gettting the new XT760 Crank, which is $250)

Have fun with the bike.

Mahalo for the advice, Kimo. :)

No money burning a hole in the pocket these days (not with the wedding in August ;)), but I'll keep that stuff in mind for the future - I don't expect to have to do much parts upgrading for a while.
