But, madoka, you say you can get a c350 for 32k now? Is it fully loaded? Or is it just base?

This is what the guy said about his car:

"P2 package ( P1 is standard on the 350) and the 18 inch AMG wheels. Could not justify the Nav as I have the 3G iPhone and a Magellan loaded with many "favorite" places.

Got 4.5k off of MSRP, could have held out for more, but that was my "comfortable" price and was happy with the 2.9% from MBUSA.

The negotiations were pretty easy, no arm twisting or high pressure. Basically they said "here is what we are comfortable selling at". They were pretty laid back at Phil Smart. I will shop there again.

I suppose had I left I could have got another $500 or so off, but we were in my comfort zone as well so I pulled the trigger."

sell the mercedes privately. you'll take a kick in the head in losing that 10k.
not worth it. if you were to trade it in, you'd lose and you're dealer would win b/c he's selling you another car and then he'll flip your mercedes for a nice profit. All legal and within his rights, but just post it around...i bet you'll get some hits on ppl wanting to buy it.

cheers,
keebler

I have 2008 mercedes c300, got it for 42k in february, and I'm not too happy with the car. It's very smooth and has great tech inside, but it's not sporty enough for my tastes.

1. Describe what you are not too happy about.

Is is the lack of acceleration? Handling? Looks? Comfort? Not sporty enough is pretty generic. Maybe there is some sort of modification you can do to satisfy your particular desires.

2. If you are going to have vehicle A.D.D. then DO NOT buy brand new vehicles unless money is truly not an issue. I think if you spend your time searching around you will find an almost new vehicle for significantly less. ( I'm thinking that there will be a fairly new C-class for thousands less than new in the Bay area very soon :) )

3. If you have to have a new car, the by all means figure out what you want first, then go and drive it AND the competition. Twice I have gone to purchase new vehicles after researching the heck out of them and ended up with the competition. For example I ended up with an Audi A4 in 2003 when I thought I was going to buy a BMW 325xi, then in 2007 I bought a ML320CDI when I was looking for an SUV (BMW, Lincoln, Land Rover, etc..)

If I were in your position, I would try to sell the vehicle through Craigslist or other private sale. Meanwhile this will give you time to think through your decision. Who knows, you might change your mind or you might find a better deal and exactly what you want.

Good Luck,

Mark

To address what I don't like about the car: Well, for one, it is not as fast as I'd like. It's plenty powerful as a cruiser, but I don't like the fact that there are much cheaper honda accords that are more powerful. I did not do my research at all, and I should have. I was just exciting to get a mercedes.

Another thing is the looks. The car looks fine, and I believe the car in its current form looks better than 3 series sedan. But when you compare it to the coupe, I think the coupe definitely looks better. But whenever I ask people what they think, I never get a straight answer, which is probably because they don't want to insult my car.

Thirdly, yes this is stupid, but I didn't even test drive the c300 when I bought it. I will be sure of test driving the BMW if I do decide to sell it.

I've put the vehicle on craigslist. If i get 33k for it on craigslist, I may pull the trigger on a used 2007/8 bmw 335i coupe. The 2009s don't seem to be much different.

hm, if money is a consideration for you then the answer would be easy (for me at least): keep the mercedes and save the 10k

the improvement you get out of the BMW is negligible (especially given the speed limit in the US).
getting a used BMW is always a risk, even if it's small.
10k is a lot of money.
some people like the BMW, some the Mercedes. I think the mercedes is much nicer although i'm a BMW fan.
i heard bad stories about the BMW's electronic. a friend sold his because he literally had to reboot his BMW every hour.
cars are not that important anyway. if this is your biggest problem i envy you.:p

Hey Andy I have a real big problem, I'm afraid my teeth are so naturally white that they're taking attention away from the rest of my face.
