Hi all,

Looking for some scanner advice! I have an Epson Stylus Photo PX710W (about two years old) which I use as a general use printer and scanner.

I am trying to digitise my family photo albums, so have some hundreds of photos to get through. The Epson is just SO slow in doing this, but I admit it has been doing a good job of producing good quality scans at 600dpi, my preferred archive scan level for photos. I've been using Preview to scan the pics in.

I just bought a Doxie Go portable document scanner (£150) as my wife wants us to go 'paperless'. The good thing about this scanner is that I can keep feeding it photos which is much much faster than the Epson and leave it to crop them and just save them into a folder. The problem is the quality of the photos is not as good as the Epson. To be fair though, it is really a document scanner more than a photo scanner. However, I might send it back as I can scan in documents (albeit slowly) through the Epson.

So is there a scanner out there that will be good for documents and going paperless but also for scanning in lots of photos at a good quality? Please don't tell me that it's one or the other 😀 Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
