If your high school is anything like mine was then you really shouldn't. We didn't have iPads back then, but we did have iPods and they were getting stolen all the time, basically, anything anyone left unattended would get stolen.
I would only take it if you could keep it on your person at ALL times. If you can't do that, then don't take it in. I know how it feels to show off your new tech to your mates, but think about it.

I don't want to show it off, I just want I use it :)

Ultimately it's up to you to decide how safe it will be. Not every school is the same and everyone else can only give advice based on their own experiences.
